July and August are the months to reap what you have sown. The secret is to keep everything watered during dry spells. But there are still opportunities to start extra crops.

Harvest vegetables whilst in their prime. Don’t leave anything to go woody, e.g. cut zucchini (courgettes) whilst they are still small and juicy. The plants will then be more productive, producing heavier cropping.

Sow carrots, radish, runner beans, French beans and lettuce in the allotment  during July.
